What would he accomplish by going back? He's been branded a national traitor and a war criminal. He has zero clout left in the Human race. To find out what's really going on? He could do that as a demon, and probably far more easily at that since he'd have actual power and resources at his disposal. It makes no sense for him to be this obsessed with it. I would understand homesick, but this is total fixation to the point of disregarding all else. The only reason that makes any sense (sadly) is he wants to go home and bang his gf. If that's really the sum of his reasoning, he's a pretty trashy character. There HAS to be more to it, but so far we've been shown nothing.
